25-Oct-2006 - Appointment of New Chief Executive Following the announcement of Chris Finnigan's departure to the CAA, I am delighted to announce that the BMAA Council has appointed Geoff Weighell as the association's Chief Executive. Geoff, a past Chairman of the BMAA, brings to the post over 20 years and 9000 hours of microlighting experience, together with an unrivalled knowledge of licensing through his time as Chairman of the Panel of Examiners and BMAA representative on the NPPL Steering Committee.
At a time when microlighting faces so much in the way of possible regulatory change we are fortunate that Chris is able to hand over the baton to someone of experience and ability who can be up and running straight away. Geoff will be stepping back from his business interests in microlighting and his position as Chairman of the Panel of Examiners in order to dedicate himself to the full-time job of Chief Executive.
On your behalf I wish both Geoff and Chris well in their new posts and I thank Chris for the tremendous contribution he has made to microlighting in the past 8 years.
Yours sincerely
Keith Negal Chairman
