A new no-stress comp Sky XCamp 2007 |

Following the success of “stress-free” competitions like the recent Ozone Caribbean XC Challenge or the Chabre Open, the Czech manufacturers Sky Paragliders and Gradient are now sponsoring the XCamp 2007 with a very similar format to the Caribbean XC (from which we just returned): An open competition in which each pilot decides when to launch, what route to follow and when/where to land. All, with the added motivation of a brand new glider as the first prize (to choose from the Sky range of certified solo gliders) and many prizes for the best pilots.
The Sky XCamp will take place on July 1-6 at Mt. Dolada, in the Italian Dolomites. The scoring system is simple, same as in many XC contest including OLC, with the following rules: Distance over maximum 3 turnpoints: 1 km = 1,0 point Distance over a circuit (out and back and triangles): 1 km=1,2 points FAI triangles: 1 km= 1,5 points For the final ranking each pilot will score his/her three best flights of the week. Tracklogs can be upload either by the organization or directly to the PGweb scoring system using the wi-fi connection available at the HQ. “It’s all about free flying XC without stress, in the way you like!” say the organizers. Although the Sky XCamp is defined as a “no stress” comp, all pilots are welcome to participate. “XC beginners will have the chance to learn from more experienced pilots and XC experts can push their limits with long flights or train for the oncoming Paragliding Czech Open 2007”. There’s a special combined fee for those willing to participate in both the XCamp and the Czech Open (at the same site).
